DESCRIPTION
The Krohn-Hite Model 6200B is a low priced, high performance
digital phasemeter that provides
phase angle measurements
with 0.5° accuracy and 0.1° resolution.
ACCURATE
MEASUREMENTS
The 6200B
provides accurate phase angle measurements between
sinewaves and squarewaves
over the frequency range from
10Hz to 1MHz. It also provides a wide input voltage range
from
100mVrms to 120Vrms, permitting measurements to be
made with greater than 60dB dynamic
range between the two
input levels. Direct readout of the measured phase angle
is provided by a 3
digit LED display, over a continuous
range of 180° to +180°.
MINIMIZING
ERRORS
Errors due
to input signal noise are minimized. The exceptional
stability of the 6200B includes
virtually zero drift for
short term and better than ±0.2°/30 days, plus a
temperature coefficient of
better than ±0.03°/°C.
EASE OF OPERATION
Ease of
operation is another key feature of the 6200B. The
exclusive Hands-Off operation
permits phase
measurements to be made quickly and easily by simply
connecting the reference
and unknown signal to the
respective phasemeter inputs, and observing the readout
in degrees.
ADDITIONAL
FEATURES
Additional
features of the Model 6200B include an analog output,
equal to 10mV per degree phase,
for use with an external
meter or strip chart recorder, plus an optional BCD
output. The 6200B
combines exceptional performance,
versatility and low price, to provide a source of phase
angle measurement that is ideally suited for today’s needs in general
calibration, testing and measurement
applications. The Model 6200B is one of Krohn-Hite’s series of digital
and precision phasemeters. When more
precise phase measurements are necessary, the Models
6600, 6610 or 6620
Precision Phasemeters, described in
detail on the next few pages, may be more suitable for
those applications.
SPECIFICATIONS
FREQUENCY
RANGE: 10Hz to
1MHz.
ACCURACY Sinewaves:
0.5°, 10Hz to 10kHz; rising to 1° at 50kHz; 1.5°/50kHz
above 50kHz. Squarewaves: 1.5°, 10Hz to 50kHz; 1.5°/50kHz
above 50kHz. Resolution: 0.1°. Repeatability: ±1 digit. Drift: ±0.2°/30 days. Temperature Coefficient: ±0.03°/°C.
INPUT Signal
Amplitude: 100mV rms to 120V rms. (Derate accuracy
specifications by a factor of
2 for input levels between
0.1Vrms
and 1.0V rms and between 20V rms and 120V rms on either
input.) Waveforms: Sinewave and squarewave.
Impedance: >100k ohms in parallel with a 50pF. Maximum DC Component: ±200 volts.
RESPONSE Time
Constant: Approximately 1 second. Settling Time (to within 1° of reading): Between
1 and 10 seconds, dependent on input change.
ANALOG OUTPUT
(For use
with an external meter or strip chart recorder) 0Vdc to
+1.8Vdc, 10mV/° phase,
600 ohms output impedance.
Separate +/ polarity output line to indicate
leading or lagging phase.
+angle: VOH=2.4V, I source=1mA.
angle: VOL=0.4V, I sink=20mA.
SOURCE
OF ERRORS Input
Signal Distortion: Typically, effects of distortion
are minimal; however, if the peak of the
distortion on
one input is phase
shifted and occurs at the crossover point of the waveform
under
test, the worst case error may be 0.6°/%. Similar
distortion on both
inputs will tend to cancel the
error. Random Noise (10kHz reference, 500kHz bandwidth): Typically
0.1° for a signal-to-noise ratio
of 30:1 on both inputs. Non-Symmetrical Squarewave: Errors are
proportional to variation in symmetry.
GENERAL Display:
0.55", 7 segment, LED. Continuous, 180.0° to
+180.0°. Ambient Temperature Range: 0°C to 55°C.
Terminals:
Front Panel: REF (BNC), SIG (BNC).
Rear Panel: REF (BNC), SIG (BNC), ac power receptacle. Power Requirements: 105-125 volts, or 210-250
volts, single phase, 50-60Hz, 10 watts. Dimensions and Weights: 3.5" (8.9cm) high,
8.63" (21.9cm) wide, 11" (27.9cm) deep; 6 lbs
