Calibration System

The 4700 system consists of:
Model 4701 AC Voltage, Frequency, Time
and the Model 4702 AC Current Source.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The 4700 AC Watt Meter Calibration System consists of two chassis. It provides independent control of voltage amplitude, current amplitude, phase angle (power factor), frequency and disk revolution count.  The 4700 System can be remotely programmed over the GPIB Bus or it can be operated manually via front panel controls.  This is a direct, controlled calibration procedure which is preferred to the substitution method or the “existing power” comparison technique. It provides calibrated inputs with minimal, controlled distortion.

SPECIFICATIONS

OUTPUT
Output Voltages (Amplitudes)*:
100Vac to 130Vac, 200Vac to 280Vac, 480Vac to 490Vac in 1V increments accomplished in 12 ranges.
Output Currents*: 100A, 50A, 30A, 15A, 10A, 5A, 2.5A and 10A, 5A, 3A, 1.5A, 1.0A, 0.5A, 0.25A (light load).
*Certain other voltages, between 50V and 600V and certain other currents, between 2.5A and 100A can be substituted. Details available on request. Creep Test: Zero current is settable to provide for creep tests.
Selectable Output Frequencies: 50Hz, 60Hz and 400Hz.
Phase Angle Control: The phase angle is settable ±70° in 1° increments. This provides control for the power factor measurements.
System Accuracy: The overall system accuracy at unity power factor is ±0.05%. N.I.S.T. traceable certification is provided.
Distortion: 0.5%.
Load Regulation: 0.005%.
Line Regulation: 0.0025%.
Elapsed Time Calculation: The system accepts a pulsed input. This may be from an electronic watt-hour meter output or from an optical pick-up observing the rotating disk. The revolution count of the meter’s disk is selectable in either the local or the remote mode. The elapsed time is displayed.
Programming:
System 4700 may be operated in the local mode or in remote via the GPIB Interface Bus. All locally controlled functions can be controlled in the remote mode as well.
