DESCRIPTION
The Model 4601 AC Voltage Calibrator/Standard
is designed for simplicity of operation and is
intended as a “work horse” standard for laboratory, production line and field service
environments.
There are 4-internal frequencies plus a setting to
accept an externally supplied frequency. A set of
lamps indicate the input levels of the external as well as the internal oscillators.
In the event of an
over-load or short-circuit condition, the instrument will trip and shut-down the
output. A lamp will
illuminate, indicating the “tripped” condition.
The controls for frequency, amplitude and range are
well marked and easy to operate. The three
external oscillator indicator lamps monitor the external oscillator’s input – when
one is used.
APPLICATIONS
Uses for the Model 4601 as a calibrator
include: AC Millivolt Meters, DVMs, Dynamometers and
Accelerometers. It is also a reference for A/D Converters.
The Model 4601 can be used for the design and evaluation
of amplifiers, converters, filters,
rectifiers, regulators, demodulators, transformers, inductors, RMS converters, AC
gain-control
circuits and oscillators. It can also be used for testing and calibrating SCRs and
SCR switching
circuits. It is a power source for servo applications and as a reference/source
to drive
transconductance amplifiers.

Voltage Accuracy (Limit-of-Error Method):
All peripheral specifications, i.e., errors for line,
load, temperature, drift and noise are listed for your information and are non-additive
to the
accuracy statement. The accuracies below are for all frequencies.
1000V, 100V, 10V ranges ±(0.05% of setting + 0.005%
of range)
1V and 100mV ranges ±(0.05% of setting + 0.05% of range).
Voltage Stability (non-additive): 8 hrs, ±(0.0075%
of setting+ 0.001% of range or 10µV;)

Overload Protection: Automatic trip, lighted front panel indicator,

FREQUENCY SPECIFICATIONS
Frequency Range: 45Hz to
5kHz†.
Internal: 4 internal frequencies, factory installed 50Hz, 60Hz, 400Hz and 1kHz.
External: This instrument accepts the frequencies within 45Hz to 5kHz† from an external
oscillator.
Input amplitudes between 3Vrms and 5Vrms which may be monitored by the “operate
level”
indicators.
Frequency Accuracy: ±0.01%.
Frequency Stability: ±0.001%/year.
Distortion: <0.5%. This is LIMIT of distortion throughout the entire
band of the frequencies 45Hz
to 5kHz at all voltage settings.
Amplitude Modulation: 0.02% rms max. at 59Hz to 61Hz.
